Frequently Asked Questions

Nusa Penida is famous for currents, which is why we focus on small groups and very clear briefings. For fun diving we require at least an SSI Open Water (or equivalent) with some recent dive experience. If you’re a newer diver or doing intro courses with us, we’ll choose sheltered sites and conditions that match your level. We also offer refresher courses for those who are certified but have not dived in over 6 months.

Yes, we teach the SSI Open Water Diver course for complete beginners. It’s a 3–4 day course with pool/confined water training, theory, and four ocean dives. We keep groups small and build up gradually so you’re not thrown into heavy current on day one.

Great question! We keep group sizes small. For fun diving our usual ratio is max 4 guests per guide, often less. Courses are even smaller, especially at entry level and on professional training. This lets us control the dives properly and still point out the good stuff underwater.

No one can guarantee wildlife. Manta rays are frequent here and we’ll plan dives around the conditions to give you a good chance to view them, but ocean life is always wild and unpredictable. For mola mola (sunfish), season is generally July–October and we only dive specific sites when conditions and experience levels match.

Our fun diving and Dive & Stay packages always include boat dives, guide, equipment rental, tanks and weights. It does not include dive computer for fun dives, but they are available to rent upon request. The Dive & Stay packages include accommodation at Tala Boutique Bungalows, all diving related costs, and transportation to and from, and you can add courses or extra dives on top. Scooter rental is also included free of charge for those needing a scooter to get around while on the island.

Yes, we are an SSI training center, but we happily welcome divers certified through other recognized agencies. All recreational certifications are recognized as equivalent between agencies, so it is possible to do your Open Water Diver with another agency, and then your Advanced Open Water with SSI, or vice versa.

Yes, on top of standard SSI courses we offer ecology specialties, and for longer stays we run a Conservation Divemaster Internship with Project Laut that combines pro training with coral restoration and turtle monitoring. We also can customize conservation short-courses for groups, such as hands-on coral restoration. If you’re interested, mention conservation when you contact us and we’ll point you to the right program.

The easiest way is to message us on WhatsApp or use the contact form with your dates, number of divers, and what you want to do (fun dives, courses, Dive & Stay). We’ll confirm availability and send you pricing and deposit details. A small deposit secures your dates; the remaining balance is paid on arrival.
