What’s Included In The Course?
This is a dry, no-dive specialty focused on the “why” behind safe diving. You’ll develop a clearer understanding of how your body, equipment, and the environment interact underwater — which improves planning, problem-solving, and your ability to make smart decisions when conditions change.
Theory
You’ll cover five SSI chapters: Diving Physics, Diving Physiology, Decompression Theory, The Components of the Total Diving System & Accessory Equipment, and The Aquatic Environment. The course connects these topics to real-world diving scenarios, helping you move from memorizing facts to thinking like a professional.
Practical Applications
Instead of confined or open water sessions, you’ll take part in an active learning format. Students prepare several short 10-minute presentations on topics from the reading and share them with the group. This builds deeper understanding, improves communication skills, and mirrors the kind of briefing and teaching mindset expected in professional-level training.
